Obituary

Robert "Bob" Robison, affectionately known to many as "Bubba," of Abington, MA, formerly Brockton, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his cherished longtime partner, Dorothy "Dottie" Carney, who passed in 2019, and his wife Arline Robison, who passed in 1988.

Bob was the beloved father of Christopher Robison and his wife, Michelle; Robert Robison Jr.; the late Kenneth Robison and his wife, Carolyn; and the late Stephen Robison. Through his loving partnership with Dottie, he also became a treasured father to Ben Benson, Michele Moran, Dawn Carney, and Jackie Hagan. He was a devoted grandfather to 21 and a proud great-grandfather to 21 more. Additionally, he was a loving brother to the late Charles Robison and his wife Lorraine; David Robison and his wife, Mimi; Linda Ryan; and Thomas Robison and his wife  Linda. Bob was also an adored uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Born in Boston on December 11, 1938, to the late Charles and Mary Robison, and raised in Dorchester, Bob served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he was deployed to the Florida coast to provide ready response amid Cold War tensions. Following his military service, Bob began his career as a millwright in 1965 and became a lifelong member of Millwrights Local 1121, where he also served as a business agent. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Abington.

Bob's love for golf was matched only by his passion for spending time with his loved ones. His annual 4th of July golf tournament was the highlight of every summer, where he would bring the family together and debut his latest golf gear, including his driver, whimsically named Bubba after himself. Bob created many fond memories during his winters in Bonita Springs, Florida, with Dottie, spending his days playing golf and hosting frequent visits from family and friends. Christmas Eve at Bob's home was another cherished tradition, where he would don his most outlandish  Christmas attire to spread joy and laughter, while proudly serving his famous mashed potatoes.

Known for his infectious sense of humor, Bob (or Bubba) brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He delighted in telling a good story, discussing the latest in sports, and enjoying music and dance. He had a special bond with his grandchildren, each of whom fondly remembers the many adventures and amusing escapades they shared with Gramps. In his final days, Bob found new friends and camaraderie at The Residence at Five Corners in Easton. Bob's warmth and friendliness touched everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on at Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street Abington, on Monday September 9, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Followed by a funeral home service at 12 PM. Interment to follow with military honors at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington.
