Robert E. Skillings, 86, of Abington died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on June 30, 2012.
He was born in Weymouth, son of the late George H. and Mildred (Linnell) Skillings and attended area schools.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Skillings owned and operated Skillings Brothers Carpentry with his late brother, Donald.
A veteran, Mr. Skillings served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II and was honorably discharged.
Beloved husband of the late Maxine M. (Kirk) Skillings. Devoted father of Richard L. Skillings of IL, Gary E. Skillings of Abington, Stephen R. Skillings of Abington, Margaret M. Skillings of Abington and Marilyn R. Klien of Dorchester. Brother of Hazel B. Skillings of Bridgewater, Helen Titus of Carver and the late V. Paul Skillings, Donald Skillings and Avis V. Skillings. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, 3-7 p.m.
Interment Mass. National Cemetery.
