Roger R. Guay, of Hingham and formerly of Abington, MA passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026.

An architect for 50 years, Roger left behind a body of work, some of which still stand today as a testament to his talent, creativity, and meticulous attention to detail.

From an early age, Roger had a deep passion for the sea. That love famously led him to miss his high school graduation so he could serve aboard the R/V Atlantis, a 142-foot, steel-hulled, ketch-rigged sailing vessel—the first American ship built specifically for marine biology and marine geology research for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.

Roger's passion for the ocean and sailing extended far beyond those early years. In his 50s, Roger purchased his own sailboat, Boomerang, a 24-foot sloop berthed in Osterville, then Falmouth which he took great pride in. Countless cherished memories were made sailing Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket Sound, adventures that remain close to the hearts of his family.

Roger's family, his wife Corinne, daughter Michelle, son Mark, grandchildren and nephews —will take comfort in the many memories they shared throughout the years. Growing up in Abington, the most vivid memories include summers spent vacationing in West Pubnico, Nova Scotia; island-hopping adventures in an inflatable Zodiac; collecting buoys; admiring Roger's creativity through his annual hedge-trimming project; and, above all, time spent together with family and friends.

Roger was married to his beloved wife Corinne for 64 years, celebrating their anniversary this past January 28.

At 96 years and three months, Roger lived a life well lived—and was deeply loved by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 11th, at St Bridget Church, in Abington at 10:30 AM.
