Steven M. Mazzarella of Abington passed away on October 30, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on April 10, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, Steve lived a life defined by honesty, loyalty, and hard work. He grew up in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and graduated from Boston Trade High School in 1964.
As a child, Steve helped his grandfather, Paul, sell produce from his fruit and vegetable cart, developing a strong work ethic at an early age. He was a proud member of Ironworkers Union Local 105. Steve began his working career at the Quincy Shipyard before moving on to Jervis B. Webb Norfolk Conveyor, where he worked from 1973 to 1994, until the company relocated. He worked as a mechanic building radar antenna systems and later continued his career at Seavey Engineering, where he remained until his retirement in 2013.
Steve had many interests, but at the top of his list were cars. Throughout his many years of driving, he could recall every car he had owned and was well known for never holding on to one for too long. Another great passion of his was sports, especially football. He was an avid fan of college football and was known to place a bet or two. Although he was not a big traveler, Steve enjoyed spending time throughout New England, particularly visiting the many beautiful beaches the Northeast had to offer. Above all, Steve took great pride in his honesty, loyalty, and being a man of his word.
Steve is survived by his loving daughter, Sasha (Mazzarella) Bryant and her husband, Robert Bryant. He was the father of the late Steven M. Mazzarella; son of the late Basilio Mazzarella and Concetta (Palazzolo) Mazzarella; brother of Angela Carter and the late Joseph Mazzarella; and uncle of Michelle Carter and the late Tina Carter. He is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Anthony, Joseph, Isabella, Alexander, and William.
Services will be held privately at a later date.
Those who knew and loved Steve know that he would want everyone to perform a small act of kindness in his memory. Whether it is bringing a friend a coffee cake, stopping by for a visit over a cup of coffee, or watching the next Patriots game while reminiscing about the good old days, these simple gestures would be a fitting tribute to a man who valued friendship, kindness, and the people in his life.
Always in our hearts.
