Susan Sinclair
Willis
March 18, 1942 – August 16, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan Sinclair Willis, who died peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 83 in Newton, Massachusetts.
Susan was born on March 18, 1942, in Canton, MA, to Leonard and Marion Curra. A lifelong learner and dedicated educator, she earned her undergraduate degree from Bates College and a master's degree from Providence College. She spent her professional life as a teacher, where her passion for learning and compassion for others left a lasting mark on generations of students.
Susan married the love of her life, David Willis, who remained by her side throughout a life filled with shared adventure, quiet routines, and unwavering devotion. Together, they traveled, built a warm home at Lasell Village in Newton, and relished in the simple pleasures of daily life—reading the New York Times each Sunday and watching the nightly news together. In her final years, David cared for Susan with deep love and dedication, attending to her every need and holding her hand as she passed away peacefully. The family is profoundly grateful for the excellent care she received at Lasell House in her final days.
She was a woman of wide interests and quiet joys—knitting, reading, and being an early and active member of the All Saints Episcopal Church community. Above all, Susan cherished time with her grandchildren, who brought endless pride and happiness to her life.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband, David Willis; daughters, Melissa Crowe and Elizabeth Crowe; and grandchildren Sasha Crowe (and her fiancé Rey Martinez), Zion Gustaitis (and his wife Brianna), Danielle St. Pierre, Brittany St. Pierre (and her partner Sean Renaud), and Jack Cuccinelli. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Marion Curra, and by her brothers, Peter Curra and Bill Varney.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Lasell Village Benevolent Fund.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and the deep love she shared so generously with her family and community.
