Obituary

Virginia L. (Fowler) Burns, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 at Care One Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Weymouth.

She was the beloved wife of the late Richard G. Burns.

Virginia is survived by her loving children and their spouses — Deborah Sampson of Rockland, Lisa O'Brien and her husband Rich of Medway, and Ann-Marie Hatch and her husband Dwight of Rockland. She was the proud grandmother of Kenny, Michael, Matt, Danny, and Kailee, and great-grandmother to seven cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Joyce MacDonald and Nancy Prescott, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Born and raised in Abington, Virginia was the daughter of the late Lester Fowler and Urania "Libby" (Prescott) Fowler. A lifelong resident of Abington, she graduated from Abington High School, Class of 1959, and worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Abington Highway Department for 13 years.

Virginia enjoyed traveling to Maine with her husband and was an avid reader. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, warmth, and devotion to her family. She will forever be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington on Thursday November 13, from 11 AM to 12 PM. Followed by a funeral home service at 12 PM. Interment to follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery Abington, MA.
