William Gove of Hanover passed away on December 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 18, 1946, in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late William Benjamin Gove and Mary O'Neil.

William was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Gove, and his siblings Frances Gove, John Gove, and Charles Gove. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Gove, and his siblings Theresa Kenney, Steven O'Neil and his wife Brenda, Richard O'Neil and his wife Debra, and Gilbert O'Neil and his wife Mary. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who cherished him.

He was the beloved father of Patricia Walsh and her husband Mark, as well as Kenneth Ruf (deceased) and his wife Cheryl. William was a proud grandfather to Katrina Simmonds and her husband Vincent Sr., Samantha O'Leary and her husband Shawn, and Amanda Walsh and her fiancé Cody. He adored his great-grandchildren: Natalie Simmonds, Kyra Simmonds, Vincent Simmonds Jr., Evelyn Simmonds, Carson Dechambeau, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of Baby Boy O'Leary in 2025.

William enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including watching sunrises and sunsets by the water, tending to his yard, grilling, hosting bonfires, and visiting antique shops. He was passionate about shopping for sports memorabilia, spending time at the casino, attending concerts, and most importantly, making memories with family and friends. A true animal lover, he frequently visited local animal rescues and took great joy in supporting their efforts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's honor to any animal rescue organization, or specifically to the HeartsHerd Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Buskirk, NY.

William's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
