William "Bill" West, of Abington passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 76 years old. Bill was born on August 21, 1948 in Boston, MA. He was the son of the late Floyd "Bud" West and Anne West.

Bill was a proud graduate of Abington High School 1966. He then went on and attended Bridgewater State College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in history in 1970.

Bill was survived by his sister Cheryl Skarinka and her husband Peter of Whitman, MA and his brother Philip West and partner Mark Emond of Brockton. He was the loving uncle to Sarah Balkam and Paul Skarinka, Michael Skarinka, Philip West and Matthew West. Bill will be missed by several grand-nephews and grand-nieces, cousins and friends.

Bill was an avid reader and prided himself on the massive collection of books that he had both printed and electronic.  He was a retired bookseller. Bill always was well versed in historically based fiction and had a special appreciation of Science Fiction and Fantasy, having had some of his own books published in this genre.

His love for genealogy resulted in his creation of a blog entitled "West in New England" in which he entered detailed vignettes of the stories of his ancestors.

Bill was also the creator of the "Life in Abington Massachusetts Face Book Page" for all the residents of his home town.

When not engaged in his many interests, Bill always enjoyed photographing lighthouses and Covered Bridges on his Scavenger hunts, with his sister. Bill enjoyed his visits with his siblings and any holiday celebration with his family.

Bill will be missed and loved by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Quealy and Son Funeral 116 Adams Street Abington, MA on Saturday October 5, at 11 AM.
