Agnes passed away peacefully on October 25, 2021, Agnes A. (Milonas) Pierce, lifelong resident of Whitman, beloved wife of the late John F Pierce, daughter of the deceased, Arthur and Vasilikis Joan (Bandis) Milonas. Agnes is survived by her sister, Irene Chandler, of Wakefield MA and the dedicated friends and colleagues with whom she spent many enjoyable times and shared lasting memories.
Agnes graduated from Whitman High School, received her undergraduate degree from Simmons College in 1956 and her graduate degree from Bridgewater State College, She began her 36-year career in education as a teacher at the Gurney School in Whitman and retired in 1993 as the Principal of The Conley Elementary School. In her years of service, she was entirely devoted to the students who walked through her classroom door and the halls of her school.
In addition to being a loving and devoted wife for 53 years, Agnes was an avid reader and writer of letters as well as a skilled crafter, knitting hats and mittens, sweaters, afghans, and lap blankets for the elderly. She loved cross stitch, making beautiful seasonal tablecloths, runners, and pictures.
She was dedicated to her town and community, an avid supporter of and loyal to all that is Whitman.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday October 30, 2021 at 10 AM in High Street Cemetery, Whitman.
