Charlie grew up in York, AL and attended West End Elementary School and later graduated from York West End high school.  Charlie enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1967.  He served in the Vietnam war, a decorated veteran of the River Patrol Force. He reached the rank of Petty Officer Second Class in 1 ½ years. After serving in the Navy Charlie received a Bachelors degree from Boston College. Charlie worked in Engineering and Finance at Polaroid and Digital Equipment Corp. He then started his own business, Concord Martinizing Dry Cleaners, which he later sold. He switched careers to work for the US Postal Service, retiring as Post Master of the Brockton MA postal station.

After his retirement Charlie began cooking and was known for his awesome ribs and spending many hours trying to recreate his Momma Maddie’s biscuits with sausage gravy. Charlie was a dedicated NY Yankees and Seattle Seahawks fan, even though he lived in Massachusetts. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Harmon Country Club. He was also known for his wild and crazy socks and the time he spent every day washing and waxing his beloved car.
