Coleen Dozier Obituary

Coleen M. (McCarty) Dozier of Weymouth, MA passed away on Sun. Jan. 10th at the age of 46, surrounded by her family at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Jarrett W. Dozier, devoted mother of Sean R. Dozier of Raynham, MA and her twin four year-old sons, Gavin and Owen. Daughter of Paul F. and Elaine M. (Tobin) McCarty of Bridgewater, MA and daughter-in-law of Paul and Theresa Dozier of Florida. Sister of Brian M. McCarty of Quincy, MA. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Coleen embarked on a lifetime dedication to providing strength and care to the ill and their families when she received her B.A. in Nursing with Honors from UMass Boston. She was welcomed into her second family 21 years ago when she joined Brigham and Womens Hospital, and truly found a second home and her vocation when she arrived in the PACU. As she relentlessly battled her own illness these last few years, those sister angel nurses of Coleen's Crew and her whole BWH family fought along with her. They provided their own tremendous strength and care to Coleen and her family, around the clock in her final days, on their own time and with full hearts. Always remember to thank a nurse.

Coleen's career in nursing also led to her finding the greatest joy of her life, because it's also where she met the love of her life in her husband Jarrett. Coleen was well trained to investigate thoroughly, and put Jarrett through the appropriate paces, but his own inner strength and passion for caring for others won her heart. Her grace shown through when she repeatedly refused to fall for the surprise at her engagement, but with her soon-to-be stepson Sean there to capture the moment, Jarrett finally got her to turn in the direction of the ring.

Coleen's passion may have been caring for others but her true calling was caring for her own. She and Jarrett and Sean created a joyful, warm home in Weymouth, where the food, laughter and love is always abundant. Their blessings increased and Coleen's first family became complete when the greatest lights in her bright life arrived with the birth of her boys, Gavin and Owen. Her smile was always astonishingly radiant and genuine, but never so much as when she was smiling about all of her boys.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, upcoming services will be private. A celebration of Coleen's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Doziers' Boys Fund, c/o TD Bank, 754 Main St., Weymouth, MA 02190.
