Cynthia Katherine Bannon
April 30, 1947 - July 11, 2023
Cynthia Bannon, 76, of Monroe, NY & Abington, MA, passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer, on Monday, July 11th, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Roman and Natalie Wojcicki. Cindy was the loving wife of Jerry Bannon. She was also a devoted mother to Kristin and her husband, Daniel Kallenberg, of Abington, MA, John Bannon of Corvallis, OR, and Ryan and his wife, Casey Bannon, of Montgomery, NY. Cindy was a dear sister to Natalie Berube and her fiancé, Anthony Riganti, of Clark, NJ who were intimately invested and supportive in her life. Her grandchildren, Noah and Drew Kallenberg, and Cole and Parker Bannon, who all adored her and called her MeMe, brought Cindy enormous joy. In addition, Cindy has many loving cousins and dear friends who were positively influenced by her kind heart. All who knew Cindy were impacted by her unconditional love and generous spirit.
Cindy was a dedicated special education teacher at B.O.C.E.S. school system in Orange County, NY, for over twenty years. She absolutely loved working with the students and dedicated her life to the special education program. Her former students often returned to thank her for the guidance, compassion, and nurturing environment she created for them.
After retirement, Cindy enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She always put the needs of others before her own, which made her an exceptional individual. She regularly made charitable donations to various foundations and was a devout Catholic.
A visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington on Friday July 14 from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday July 15th at St. Bridget Church, Abington at 10:30am. Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery Rockland.
