A marvelous sense of humor and relentless whit that merged perfectly with a heart of gold, a love of old tools, antiques and anything with the name Rolls Royce written on it, could best describe David Michael Bagley, 79, who passed away on April 3.
A long time resident of Abington and the owner of Whitman Sales Outlet, which was a mainstay on Route 18 for more than 40 years, Bagley spent the bulk of his time dealing in used machinery and heavy equipment.
Prior to opening Whitman Sales in 1969, which was located at 1190 Bedford Street, Bagley owned and operated a used car lot across the street, which is currently Sullivan Motors.
A graduate of Newton High School’s Class of 1961, Bagley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Calvin Coolidge College before attending Portia Law School.
He is survived by his wife Anne (Crocker) Bagley, his son John (Monique) Bagley of Los Banos, Ca., stepsons Charles (Deidre) Crocker of So. Easton Ma., Philip (Alleigh) Crocker of Bellingham, Ma., his brother Kenneth (Cora) Bagley of Poway, Ca., sister-in-law Lupe (John) Bagley of Oceanside, Ca.; grandchildren: Madison Bagley, Giovanni Bagley, CJ Crocker, Ryleigh Crocker and Max Crocker, as well as a great grandson, Jameson.
He was preceded in death by his parents James & Daisy Bagley of St. Petersburg, Fl and brothers James Bagley, Stephen Bagley and John Bagley.
Dave will be greatly missed by his niece, nephews, cousins, all extended family and friends who will never forget his passion to put laughter on the face of everyone he encountered.
