David Bean, 84, of Marshfield, MA. Born premature to parents Lauress and Jeannette Bean during the Hurricane of 1938 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Dorchester MA, it cost his parents $40 to get him out of hock after 4 weeks in an incubator. After this blustery entrance, David brought calm winds and wise counsel all the rest of his life. A more loyal, dependable, intelligent, gentle, and funny man does not exist on this earth. A supportive son, brother, husband, father and grandfather to the end, he blessed his family with unwavering care.
David grew up in Abington, MA and served in the U.S. Air Force teaching missile guidance systems. It was here that he became interested in computers that would later lead to his work in computer systems architecture at Massachusetts Financial Services in Boston, MA. David graduated from Northeastern University in 1989 by taking night classes while working full time and taking care of his family. After his retirement, David and his wife Patricia served their community by teaching computer skills to senior citizens at Massasoit Community College and Abington Senior Center. David also had a knack for poetry. Though he was a man of few words, he graced his family with both touching and humorous “pomes” based on family, and significant events in their lives.
David met his wife, Patricia, while traveling in Italy with his cousin Walter in 1968. Romance quickly bloomed and they were married in 1971. David and Pat were blessed with three beautiful, amazing, hysterical, talented, second-to-none daughters who filled their lives with endless joy, laughter, stage performances, and music. They were also blessed with two loving grandchildren whom David just adored and bragged about to anyone who would listen.
David often said that his greatest gift was his family. He is survived by his devoted, loving, steadfast, innovative, has-more-books-than-the-public-library wife Patricia, his daughters and sons-in-law Catherine Bean, Jennifer Bean, Elizabeth Bean, Peter Colt, and Jonathon Myers, his grandsons Henry and Alder Colt, his siblings, Larry Bean, Joanna Grant, Stephen Bean, Rosemary Tangstrom, and Ginny Travers, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws. Preferring to exit the world with less fanfare than when he arrived, his services were private, and he was laid to his final rest at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. His family will be grateful for donations to Scituate Etrusco Associates www.scituateetrusco.org/
