David G. Drew of Abington, August 27, 2020, age 83, Loving husband of 54 years to Evelyn (Girolamo) Drew of Abington; Beloved father of Tracy (Drew) Marini and husband Kenneth of Pembroke, Frank Drew and wife Linda of Marshfield, and Timothy Drew of Rockland; Proud “Pop” of Jared, Brady, Drew, Nolan and Emma; Beloved brother of Richard Drew of Newton and the late Herbert Drew and late Patricia Drew; Also, survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
David was born on August 13, 1937 in Boston, raised in Allston, and graduated Bentley College in 1972. He worked at Raytheon for 30 years as a Facilities Manager and for 10 years, starting in 1997 he became the Move Coordinator for the Federal Courts of Boston, Providence, and Puerto Rico. David was dedicated to the Town of Abington through various committees for over 50 years.
David was an avid lover of numbers, card games (especially cribbage), waterskiing on Monponsett Lake, golf, baseball, breakfast (2 pieces of French Toast) at Martin’s, Tommy (his cat), a well-iced Dewar’s, and always ready with a clever story. A sharp dressed man who prided himself on choosing a perfectly folded pocket silk for every occasion. He was the “King” of handing out a “little walking around money” to his grand kids, nephews, and nieces.
Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street on Tuesday September 1 from 4 to 7pm. A funeral mass will be held in St. Bridget Church, Abington Wednesday 10am. Please go directly to church (currently at 50 person capacity). Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of David to: St. Vincent De Paul Society, 455 Plymouth Street, Abington, MA 02351.
