Edward Francis McVinney passed away on March 11, 2022. Ed was born on July 16, 1952 to the late Francis P. McVinney and Mary E. McVinney (Sullivan). Ed is survived by his daughter Keri Morrison and her husband Eric Morrison of Norwell, his daughter Maureen Melone and her husband Scott Melone of Pembroke, his son Michael McVinney of Boston, and his grandchildren Caitlin, Ryan, Ariana and Andrew. Ed was formally married to Nancy (Goodman) Inglis.
Ed graduated magna cum laude from Boston College in 1974 and received his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 1986. He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar for 30 years and was proudly admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Born and raised in Brighton, Ed had a passion for travelling the world, but always maintained a love for his home city of Boston. After several years in Phoenix and Seattle, he came back to the Boston area settling in Hanover where he became a dedicated local politician as an elected member of the Hanover School Committee and appointee to the South Shore Vo-Tech School Committee, Hanover Democratic Town Committee, and Hanover School Building Committee.
Ed’s family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of Oak Hill Nursing Home in Middleboro for the compassion and care they provided to “Eddie” for the past 5 years.
