Edward O’Connor passed away on December 21, 2021 joining his wife Donna who left us on November 23, 2021. He was born in Cambridge and grew up with his two sisters, Lillian Wisniewski and Marilyn McDevitt. He married, Donna Bonfiglio in 1967 and subsequently moved to Abington in 1970 and lived there for the rest of his life.
His priority was always his family. Together with his wife, he raised two children. Edward was an unfailing source of encouragement and support to all who knew him. He was also a proud and beloved “Papa” to his two grandchildren.
He was a “double eagle”, graduating from Boston College High School and then Boston College.
Edward spent much of his career in banking and tax law and in later years was a part time travel agent.
In 2007, he received a Governor’s citation for twenty-five years of dedicated service to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. He was also a cruise enthusiast and was a part-time travel agent for several years. He would frequently go on cruises with his wife, sometimes with his children, friends, or with his sister Lillian and her husband Walter. He had the uncanny ability to know the exact location of any cruise ship on any day of the week.
He faced several illnesses throughout his life and bravely battled through them all, with the support of his wife, to be present for his family.
He will live in our hearts each day and will be sorely missed.
Edward is survived by his son, Kenneth O’Connor and his wife Louisa, her daughter Karen Lynch & her husband Brett Lynch and their children, Hailey and Justin Lynch.
There will be a Visitation on Monday December 27, from 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM at Quealy Funeral Home. Followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM at St Bridget's Abington.
Interment to follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
