George Patrick Corr of East Bridgewater, MA passed away on December 11, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born on March 9, 1932 in Cambridge, MA to John Corr and Evelyn (Keyte) Corr. He was predeceased by his sister Jacqueline Phillion and his brother, Richard Corr.
George attended high school at Cambridge Rindge Tech where he was a standout athlete who lettered in football and baseball. After high school, he served in the Air Force from 1952-1956 where he served in Korea. He also worked for the United States Post Office as a letter carrier for 30 years. He lived in Abington for over 30 years where he served as an usher at St. Bridget’s church. George was an avid hunter, golfer and fisherman. He shared this love of the outdoors with his two sons and nephews. Golf was a passion he discovered later in life and this gave him the opportunity to take numerous trips to Myrtle Beach, SC with his sons and their friends. Those golf trips and various local golf outings were a great source of enjoyment during his retirement. George also enjoyed traveling to Ireland and he made several trips with his wife over the years to visit family and friends. For the last 20 years, George and his wife Betty have lived in East Bridgewater at White Pine Village where he played in a twice weekly card night at the clubhouse with his many good friends from the neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife Bernadine (Harrigan) Corr of over 60 years of marriage, two sons, their wives, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They include, his oldest son, John Corr and his wife Jackie of Whitman, MA and their daughters Casey and Kylie; his son Robert and his wife Susan of Weymouth, MA and their 5 children, Robert Shawn and his wife Alissa of Brockton with great grandchildren Autumn and Charlie; Patrick Corr of Washington, DC; Joya Corr of New York, NY; William Livezey-Corr and Olivia Corr of Weymouth. George was a wonderful husband, terrific father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. His warm, calm, confident smile and strength will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington on Friday December 15 from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral mass will be held Saturday in St. Bridget Church, Abington at 10:30am. Burial will be Tuesday in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 10am.
