Gerald Walls – 8/2/1934 – 12/22/2020

Beloved husband of Eileen (Creighton) Walls, son of Elsie (Ames) and Magorisk Walls, born in Rockland, brother of the late Eleanor Littlefield, Magorisk “Buzz” Walls, Richard Walls of Rockland, David Walls of Hartford, Connecticut, Margaret Allen of Scituate, Catherine Chase of Portland, Maine, and Thomas Walls of Abington. He was the brother-in-law of Kathleen and Allan Ross of Abington and Joanne and Richard Wing of Plymouth, James Chase of Portland, Maine and Helen Walls of Abington.

Jerry is a veteran, served 2 years in US Army.

Survived by nieces and nephews William Littlefield and his wife Alayne of Pelham, Robert Littlefield and his wife Maureen of Wakefield, RI, Mary O’Meara and her husband Francis of Norwell, Jacob and Melissa Ross of Tewksbury, Matthew and Jessica Ross of Milton, Patrick and Nicole Wing of Bozeman, Montana and Lisa and Nick Grubbs of Plymouth, along with many other nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.

He leaves his lifetime friends George and Mary Corcoran of Rockland and Joan Gillis and her late husband “Wishy” of Florida, the late George and Claire LaCombe of Illinois, and Dick Kelly of Weymouth.

Jerry was a graduate of Rockland High and University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He played football and ran track as well as other sports at both institutions, inducted into Rockland’s Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in football and track and inducted into Abington's Athletic Hall of Fame as assistant coach of the 1981 Abington High School girls’ MA State Championship basketball team. Jerry was captain of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst football. Taught school in Abington for 28 years, retired in 1995. Along with is good friend, Dick Kelly, was coach of Abington High School Girls’ basketball team. Jerry also scored the last seven points scored by the Abington “Old Town” football team. He scored the touchdown and kicked the extra point.

Jerry served in the army from 1954 to 1956, stationed at various posts in U.S. as well as Germany where he played football and ran track for the Army, member of the Abington Legion.

Jerry was a devoted fan of high school athletics, enjoyed playing golf with friends, and spending time with and sharing a meal with friends and family.

Jerry will be greatly missed by his wife, Eileen, family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to 110 Fitness at 200 Weymouth Street, Rockland, MA.02370. Jerry spent the last few years fighting against Parkinson’s disease at 110 Fitness and greatly appreciated the friendships and increased quality of life he found there.

Visitation will be held in the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Saturday August 7 from 9:30am to 10:30am. All other services will be private. Please wear a mask, per family request.
