James J. Mello, 54, of Abington, Ma, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 13, 2022, due to complications of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
Born on July 24, 1967, James was the son of the late William Mello and the late Kathleen (Comeau) Mello. Predeceased by his brothers William Mello Jr. of Quincy Ma, and Matthew Mello of Rockland. James is survived by his wife, Diane (DeBello) Mello of Abington. He is also survived by daughter Christina and her husband Steve Merrill of Hanson, and daughter Melissa Mello and fiance Tyler Hannon of Abington, as well as his four grandsons Ryan, Owen, Austin, and James. He is also survived by his uncle Richard Mello of Taunton, and his niece Lucy Torello of Rockland. In addition, he is also survived by sister-in-law Susan (DeBello) Geagan and husband Donald Geagan of Abington, sister-in-law Barbra (DeBello) Venuti and husband Leo Venuti of Braintree, and brother-in-law Stephen DeBello of Braintree, predeceased by brother-in-law Robert DeBello of Weymouth and sister–in-law Deborah (DeBello) Baker of Weymouth, as well as many nieces and nephews.
James Graduated from Weymouth Vocational Technical High School in 1985. After graduation, James served in the Army Reserves. James worked as a custodian in the Weymouth Public School system until his condition worsened.
Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Wednesday May 18 from 4 to 7pm, followed by a funeral service at 7pm.
