John F. Dennison of Abington passed away on November 4, 2022 at the age of 76.
Jack was born in Quincy and moved to Abington as a teenager. He graduated from Abington High School in 1964 and was drafted into the Army shortly thereafter. He served his time in Germany, and on his return to the states, he began his career with the postal service in Abington.
Jack had a sarcastic sense of humor like no other. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. The most important part of his life was his love for his family. He enjoyed watching New England sports teams, visiting his daughters in Vermont, cooking, fishing and spending time on Cape Cod. He also had a special place in his heart for dogs (especially his pit bull Pac Man).
Jack is survived by his daughters Melissa Dennison of Canaan, NH and Lynn Dennison who resides in Hartford, VT with her husband Bob Cushman. He is also survived by his grandsons Connor Cushman, Nicholas Farnsworth, Dean Farnsworth, and four great grandchildren; his sister Mary Arian of Mashpee; his brother William Dennison of San Jose, CA; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Anne Lasson of San Jose, CA and Brenda Dennison of Kansas.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Harbor House in Hingham who cared for Jack during his final months with us.
Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home at 116 Adams Street, Abington on Wednesday, November 9 from 11am to 12pm followed by funeral home service at 12pm. Interment to follow at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute – Memorial Contributions, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
