Katherine "Kate" Boothby Obituary

Katherine A. “Kate” Boothby of Abington, age 59, died February 8, 2019 at Tewksbury Hospital from Huntington’s Disease; Loving daughter of the late Frank and Kathleen Boothby; Loving sister of Mary Kelly, Colleen Boothby, Christopher Boothby, Bridget Walls, and the late Johanna Loring, Mark Boothby, Bonnie Ferris, Paula Moore, Cynthia Morgan, Tommy Boothby,  and Lou Boyle; Loved by many nieces and nephews.

Kate fought Huntington's Disease with courage, her faith and HOPE. She participated in many,  many research programs at Mass General over the years, for all of the HD families
and of course her family. Her prayers also were for the HD families. Kate was the fun and crazy aunt. All of nieces and nephews loved her and have many fun memories over the years.
Kate also was always there for her siblings, for whatever they would need and at their bedsides at the end of their lives here and passing on to heaven. That was truly a gift to be with them.
The last couple of years her residence was Tewksbury Hospital on the HD Unit. So now she is with Colleen and making sure she was with her every day for the different groups and activities.  Kate still had her crazy sense of humor and was liked by all at Tewksbury .Kate would sit side by side with Colleen in their chairs and simply hold her hand.  The daily news of what was going and sports scores always started with "Boothby Time" for our brother Tommy because he used to make up crazy dates. Colleen will truly miss her sister Kate as we all will.Kate was a member of AA for many years and sponsored many, many people over the years. I also know that Kate through this program gained more faith and strength.  Kate once told me that she would rather have a life with Huntington's Disease than no life at all. NEVER will I forget that talk. Kate also had more friends than I would in my lifetime.    We all will miss Kate so much, but she is at peace now and another one of our angels looking over us.

Thank you for all of the kind and happy comments about Kate.
