Kathleen Anne (Moriarty) Shahvari

Kathleen Anne (Moriarty) Shahvari of Rockland, formerly of Abington, passed away at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Saturday, July 17th, 2021, after a two month battle with Covid-19. Kathy was born on December 22, 1948 at Brockton Hospital to the late John and Eileen (Mahoney) Moriarty of Abington. Kathy grew up in Abington and graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School. Kathy continued her education and received her Bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College and later went on to receive her Masters degree from Suffolk University. Kathy retired Department of Transitional Assistance in 2010.

Kathy was the loving wife of 38 years to Ghodrat “Tony” Shahvari of Rockland. Devoted mother of Michael Shahvari and his wife Molly (McEachern) Shahvari of Whitman, and Kayla Shahvari of Bridgewater. Beloved Grandmother to Ava and Mason Shahvari. Sister of Barbara Reincke of Hingham and the late Eileen Meserve, M. Helen Siemers, Ruth Winsor, and Paul Moriarty. Kathy is also survived by her dear brother and sister-in-law, Keromat “Keo” and Joanne (Siegel) Shahvari of Natick, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Kathy enjoyed watching sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. In her younger years, she was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed skiing. Her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren.

 The Shahvari family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Kathy’s life on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. in the Quealy and Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington, MA.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Kathleen to: Breast Cancer Foundation, Susan G.
