Luisa Maria Dano of Whitman, passed on April 8th at the age of 71, born in Ann Arbor, MI on March 14th, 1950 to her parents Alex G. and Gitta M. Dano.
Luisa went to school in Quincy and was a gifted student. She earned her BA and MA degrees from Emmanuel College in German Language and Literature with one year of study at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. Luisa was employed by State Street Bank & Trust as Income Collection Coordinator for their Global Custody Division. In that role she did some international travel. Early in her career she also worked for the National Park Service at the Adams Mansion and Longfellow House.
Luisa was an active member at the Covenant Congregational Church. She had many roles in the church and was especially known for her beautiful Soprano voice. She was a sought after soloist for services, weddings and funerals in the Greater Boston area. She once had the opportunity to sing for Governor John Volpe when she was 15 year old. She also sang with many musical organizations in the area.
The Dano family owned and operated the Austro-Hungarian Dining Room restaurant in W Harwich for 11 years from 1966 to 1977, where Luisa was head waitress.
Luisa is survived by brother Gustav G. Dano, and wife Beth and their daughters Kristen, Sarah and Katherine of Abington and sister Maria Dano-Graves and husband Gary and their children Alex and Kristiana of Littleton. Luisa preceded brother Robert H. in death by two weeks and two siblings Martha and Frankie.
A graveside service will be held Monday May 3rd at 11 am at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree. The family requests that those attending should wear bright colored clothing.
