Paul G. Stimpson Jr.

Paul G. Stimpson Jr. passed away on February 1, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by family after a period of failing health. Born in Abington on September 16, 1943, he was preceded in death by his parents Paul G. Stimpson Sr. and Ethel Stimpson. A 1961 graduate of Abington High School, he was a 3 sport athlete that starred in football, basketball, and captained the 1961 baseball team. Paul was voted an all-star in every level of baseball he ever played, from little league to S. E. Military league at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. He continued his love for sports by playing weekly pickup basketball until age 70. A veteran, he served as a medic in the Vietnam War. Paul is survived by his wife Nancy Daly Stimpson of 32 years, his son Scott Stimpson of Whitman, his daughter Kerri and husband Bill Yetman of Plymouth, his stepsons Paul and wife Sheila Fitzpatrick of Marshfield and Sean Fitzpatrick of Abington. He is also survived by his brothers Dick Stimpson of Indiana and Tony Stimpson of Rockland. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Joshua and Luke Fitzpatrick, Korena and Emma Yetman, Ryan Fitzpatrick and his beloved cat Max. After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, Paul worked as an insurance agent for John Hancock Insurance for 28 years. Taking early retirement, he subsequently managed and worked in the convenience store business until his health  prevented him from working. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington on Thursday February 9 from 10am to 1pm, followed by military honors at 1pm. Interment will be private.
