Philip F Caplice was born August 14 1928. His parents were the late Mary and Maurice Caplice. He was the loving husband of the late Gloria (Colombo) Caplice. He had 2 sons, Philip M Caplice and his wife Deborah of Weymouth and the late Bruce K Caplice. He had 3 siblings; the late Maurice Caplice , the late Raymond Caplice , and the late Catherine Umbrianna. He was a grandfather to Jillian K Caplice of Weymouth. He was a Korean War Veteran and was very proud of his service in the Army. He was in intelligence due to his ability to understand Morse Code. He returned home in 1953 and married his lovely wife, Gloria. They eventually settled into Brockton and had 2 sons. He lived in the same home for 59 years.
He played football for Abington High School, and after graduation in the Old Town League as a semi pro player He loved sports. He was a little league coach in the 1960's for his son's teams. He followed the Patriots and the Red Sox and was fortunate enough to see both teams reach a lot of success. He also enjoyed camping with his sons at Myles Standish State Forest
Philip worked at the VA hospital for many years and retired in 1987. He eventually volunteered to assist other veterans. He was proud of his volunteer hours.
His greatest joy was the birth of his only grandchild, Jillian. He loved spending time with her. He especially enjoyed the many lunches that they shared. She often would bring a friend or two and that made it all the more fun for him. He was so pleased to see her graduate from high school and college.
He passed peacefully at the age of 90 on October 10th 2018.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams St., Abington on Saturday October 13 from 2 to 4pm, followed by a funeral service at 4pm. Interment will be private.
