Roger Wolcott Obituary

Roger John Wolcott, 75, of Middleboro, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 20, 2022. He is survived by his wife and best friend of nearly 52 years, Joanne Currie Wolcott, his daughter Jennifer L. Bryant and her husband Paul, his daughter Marianne C. Speakman and her husband Michael, his daughter Colleen A. Zaniewski and her husband Christopher and his most treasured grandchildren, Shannon Bryant, Curran Speakman, Dylan Speakman, Karolyne Speakman, and Sophia Zaniewski.

Roger is also survived by his loving brothers and sister, Harvey Wolcott Jr, his wife Kathy, David Wolcott Sr., his wife Janice, Kevin Wolcott, his wife Felicia, Mark Wolcott, Gail Ricketson, her husband Brad, and Jerry Wolcott. He is predeceased by his brother Wayne Wolcott Sr., and survived by his wife Debbie. Roger is the uncle to many loving nieces and nephews.

Roger was born in Brockton on February 10, 1947, the son of the late Harvey and Edna Wolcott. He was raised in Abington and attended Abington schools graduating Abington High School Class of 1966. Roger was drafted after high school into the U.S. Army and bravely served his country in Vietnam. He was wounded twice and awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Army Commendation Medal. Upon returning home from the war he married the love of his life and started a family together. Appreciating the value of a good education, he earned his Associate’s Degree from Newbury College and his Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Nazarene College.

Roger was an incredibly hard worker, working as an engineer for Raytheon in Waltham and retiring after 45 years. In retirement, he enjoyed his home in Florida, golfing, and making new friends wherever he went. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV, and a 4 th degree Knight of Columbus.

 Roger was a devoted father, proud of all his girls. He enjoyed attending all of their sporting events. He was a coach for their youth basketball and softball teams. He served as President of the Carver Athletic Booster Club.

Roger was the life of the party and had a talent for making everyone feel special. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He opened his door to all and treated them as his own. His favorite times were spent with his adoring grandchildren. His memories and love will live on through his family.

Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington on September 26, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral will be held at St. Bridget Church, Abington on Tuesday, September 27 th at 10:30am.
