Selina Rachael (Parsons) Litchfield, 98½ , a lifelong resident of Abington Massachusetts, died Thursday March 11th, 2021. Born in Cambridge MA in 1922, Selina was the oldest of eight children and the daughter of railroad foreman John Stanley Parsons and homemaker Stella Rachael (Snow) Parsons who immigrated to America from Newfoundland in 1921. She was married to John Litchfield, Chief of Police in Abington MA, who predeceased her in 1972. Together, they loved horse racing, the Kentucky Derby, vacationing with friends in Florida and spending time with family. Selina was an office manager for the Tremont Credit Union.
Selina Litchfield leaves behind her brother William H. Parsons of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Dawn S. Shafer of Clifton Park, New York, as well as her sister-in-law Lee Parsons of Rockland MA. Her late siblings were Stella Hanning-Lee of Chester England, Thelma Wainshilbaum of Irvine CA, Fern Jones of Litchfield, NH, Jack Parsons of Rockland MA, and Janet Huber of Littleton MA. Her numerous nieces and nephews mourn her loss, recall the endless cups of tea, and her support in attending various important events in their lives. Her kind neighbors -- the May family and the Rodriguez family of Abington, and others, made her final years enjoyable and allowed her to remain in her home, for which her family is ever grateful.
A graveside service open to the public will be held March 17 at 10am at the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Abington MA.
