Thomas J. Couite

Thomas J. Couite, age 86, of West Hyannisport, MA died Friday, January 13, 2023. Tom was born in Brockton to Mary Ellen Couite (McKiernan) of County Cavern Ireland and Manuel Couite. He grew up in West Bridgewater on the family farm, Greenfield Dairy. Tom worked almost his entire life as a Master Barber and became a very successful business owner, operating Tom’s Barber Shop in Abington for over 52 years. He was proud that both of his children also became barbers. Tom enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Roseland Ballroom in Taunton, gardening at his cherished home on Cape Cod, driving his Lincoln Town cars, spending time with his poodles (Belle and Bonnie), listening to Sinatra, watching the Red Sox, and enjoying Italian food. His true joy in life was vacationing in Hawaii on Waikiki Beach and he traveled there many times in his life. He is survived by his wife Ann Doherty Couite of West Hyannisport, his two loving children, Terri-Ann Risoldi and husband John of Kitty Hawk, NC and Thomas Couite Jr. of West Wareham, his step-children: Patrick Doherty and wife Kathryn of Westport CT, Brandon Doherty and wife Jennifer of Norfolk, Ryan Doherty of Holbrook and Kelley Doherty of West Hyannisport; grandchildren: John Soderbom and wife Rebecca of Bridgewater, Dan Soderbom of Bridgewater, Michael  Pratt and wife Catherine of Holyoke, and Colleen Pratt of Kitty Hawk, NC. He also leaves seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gerry Carrozza (Couite) and deceased wife Elsie (Mussell) Couite. 

A funeral mass will be held on  Friday Janurary 20th at 10:30am at St. Bridget Church, Abington. 

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donation to be made to St. Vincent De Paul 425 Plymouth Street Abington, MA 02351.
