Tom Hagerty of Abington, age 58, passed away on June 6, 2020. Tom was pre-deceased by his father Vincent Hagerty. He is survived by his mother, Marion Hagerty, and seven brothers and sisters -- Kathi, Fran, John, Mike, Pat, Paul, and Eileen – along with many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Tom graduated from Abington High School having played football, baseball, and basketball. He went on to graduate from Massasoit Community College.
Though he faced many challenges in life, Tom remained incredibly kind and caring to those important in his life. Tom’s heart was truly made of gold, wanting to help others in any way possible. His heart was always in the right spot.
Tom was quite the handyman. Whether it was building a deck or painting a house, this is where Tom found peace and would often volunteer his skills to help others. The deck he built for his Mom and Dad still remains as the pinnacle of how to over-engineer a deck. But it had to be “Tom’s way” and that’s what we loved about him. We can’t help but smile, knowing that Tom and his Dad are both looking down from Heaven and admiring that deck that will outlast all the Hagerty’s.
A private service will be held by the family at Quealy Funeral Home and burial at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, next to his Dad.
