Thomas (TJ) McElaney, 62, of Abington, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on December 9th 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to the late Joan (Breen) Gentile and Thomas F. McElaney. Beloved father of Evangelyn, Alexander, Brianna and Andrew all of Whitman and their mother Charlene Hayden. He was also survived by his late children Thomas and Jessica McElaney. He was Papa T to his loving granddaughters Peyton and Charlotte McElaney.
Dear brother of Deborah Devlin of PA, Loretta and Robert Carr of NH, Sally Halpin of Abington, Francis and Jean Gentile of Abington. As well as the late Robert McElaney, Carol Conley and Russel Gentile.
Also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
TJ served as a merchant marine, prior to serving in the U.S Navy from 1984-1987. In his free time, he enjoyed being out on the water and fishing with his son’s and granddaughters. He loved reading, watching movies, along with celebrating the July 3rd, the annual family trip to OOB, and loved working on cars with his brother Franny.
He leaves behind a loving family near and far and people who will cherish his company forever. He will surely be missed by all.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday December 15th, from 4-6 PM at Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adam Street, Abington MA. Burial will be private with close family at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
