On Sunday, May 5th, Charles A. Tower, Sr passed away peacefully at his home in Abington, surrounded by his family. Charles was 89 years old. Loving husband of 64 years to Barbara A. Tower. Devoted father of Charles Tower, Jr and wife Tina, David Tower and wife Joanne, Linda Koehler and husband Frederick, Judith Pucci and husband Joseph. Also survived by 9 grandchildren: Adam, Brendon, Jenna, Danielle, Evan, Ryan, Emily, Matthew and Angela. Great grandchildren: Chase, Eleanor and Brayden.
Born in Lamoine, Maine and lived in Ellsworth, Maine before moving with his parents and siblings to South Boston, MA.
Charles attended Boston Trade. Served in the US Army then graduated from Roberts Technical School in Boston. He was a Master Mechanic. Charles was employed for over 30 years at Pearl Street Motors in Braintree.
His favorite hobbies included bowling, home renovations, traveling the world, western movies, playing cards, slot machines, visiting with friends and family. Charles was known for his fun-loving nature, quick with a joke or a sarcastic retort with a twinkle in his blue eyes and a shoulder shrug. He was very generous with his time and his skills, always available to help friends, neighbors and family, in any way that he could, with a hammer and tools in hand.
Charles struggled with kidney disease, surviving on dialysis for over 6 years. He made the decision to be home with Hospice and family at the end of his days.
Funeral from the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Thursday May 9 at 8am followed by a funeral mass in St. Bridget Church, Abington 9am. Visitation Wednesday 4 to 7pm.
