Christopher W. “Chris” Steere, 67, of Vero Beach, FL formerly of Freetown, MA and Providence, RI, devoted husband of Yvonne Steere, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friend on May 25 th, 2019 after suffering brief illnesses from which he did not recover. Dedicated son to parents, Evelyn (Peg) and John “Sweetie” Steere, loving father to Re’al and beloved son in law to Yvonne McAvoy who predeceased him, Chris helped make us all whole with his love, care and laughter.
Unconditionally compassionate and empathic, Chris lived his love of life. Genius of humor, athlete, and lover of animals and gardens, Chris could find a glimmer of Joy in just about everything. He loved the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, soccer, golf and his country. An incredible mind for facts, he knew it was the little things that mattered in the greater scheme of our world. Chris’s love for his home, his family and close friends brought great comfort and joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Yvonne (McAvoy Rousseau) Steere, four legged companion, Fergus, brothers and sister in law, John McAvoy of Vero Beach, Jessie Balentine of California and Sheila McAvoy of Vero Beach; nephew and niece Mark and Heather Hartshorn of Watertown, MA and great nephews, Max and Henry. He built a world of love and care.
We would like to thank VNA Hospice of Vero Beach for their immense kindness, support and return of comfort and dignity during this time.
A Celebration of Life will be held this Fall. Contributions in honor of Chris, may be made to VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach, 901 37th St, Vero Beach, FL 32960
