Marcella Benoit Obituary

Marcella Pauline Benoit passed away on 11/09/2018. She is survived by sisters Margaret A. Clark of Whitman, Winnifred J. Love of Abington, Antoinette M. and Christos Zigouras of Abington, Ida and David Frazier of Abington, Theresa and Richard Adams of Brentwood, CA and Richard Benoit and Barry Achung of Marblehead, and Sarah-Jane Benoit of Nova Scotia, Canada. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Edmund Benoit of Abington, Edward and Roma Benoit of Mascoutah, IL, John Benoit of Nova Scotia Canada, Willard Benoit of Somerville, James Benoit of Abington and Leo Benoit of Abington. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Marcella worked for 26 years as the assistant treasurer of the Abington Bank and proudly held the very first checking account at the bank. She graduated from Bridgewater State College with a degree in History and Education. Marcella was an active member of St. Bridget’s Parish and was secretary of St. Vincent de Paul for many years. While caring for their younger brother Leo, she was also actively involved in B.A.R.C.

During her free time Marcella enjoyed crafting, painting, needlepoint and stained glass. She was the family historian and to her family was everything. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.

Funeral from the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Wednesday Nov. 14 at 8am followed by a funeral mass in St. Bridget Church, Abington 9am. Visitation Tuesday 4 to 6pm. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland.
