Michael McNeil 46 years of age died on September 17, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital with his loving family at his side after his valiant fight with Spinocerebellar Ataxia. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 17 years, Jennifer (Johnson) McNeil and their precious daughter Zoe.
Michael is survived by and will be fondly remembered by his mother Carol McNeil, his brother John McNeil, his in-laws Joe & Enid Johnson, Karen & Joe D’Antonio, Jr and Maureen & Joe Hasenfus; his kind hearted nephews Joey D’Antonio III, Nicholas & Daniel Hasenfus, Thomas & Blake McSweeney, his beautiful and favorite niece Olivia D’Antonio as well as many loving Aunts, Uncles & cousins. Michael was predeceased by his father Thomas McNeil.
Michael had a strong will to live and an unwavering faith in God & our country. The love and prayers of family and friends along with the wonderful staff at MGH Neurological Department, especially Jeremy Schmahmann MD, carried him through his 13 year battle with SCA 1.
Michael was a considerate & gentle person who loved spending time with family & friends. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, passion for cycling, being an avid fan of New England sports teams & politics as well as his zest for life.
He graduated from Weymouth South High School in 1990 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Lowell in 1996.
Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral home 116 Adams Street, Abington, MA on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 2:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 P.M.
