Henry Oliveira Obituary

Henry S Oliveira

August 13, 1919 ~ May 9, 2020

After a wonderful life of 100 years Henry passed away peacefully on May 9th after a brief illness.  A resident of Abington for 45 years and most recently of All American Assisted Living, Hanson MA.

Henry was the beloved husband of the late Claudia P Oliveira for 54 years. Henry is survived by his loving children Yvette M Oliveira of Abington, Jeffrey J Oliveira and his wife Kristi of Hanover and Claudia M Oliveira of Abington. Adored “Papa” of Christopher Marquardt of Abington, Melanie, and Andrew Oliveira of Hanover. Also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.

After emigrating to the United States in 1948 Henry joined the Merchant Marines.  His service included duty during the Korean War. He was especially proud to share his military background with his grandson Andrew who is currently serving in the United States Navy. He later worked and retired from the Plymouth Rubber Company in Canton.  Post retirement he held various part time jobs to stay busy and active.  He had a passion for gardening and held great pride in the peach trees that he grew in the family backyard.  His biggest joy was entertaining family and friends at home, where all were welcome.  Anyone who knew Henry loved his zest for life, storytelling, and wisdom.  Most of all he cherished spending time with his late wife, children, and grandchildren.  A dedicated family man, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. Henry will be remembered for his deep love of family, independence, humor, strength of mind and courage.   He will be sorely missed by all that loved and knew him.

The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to All American Assisted Living for their love and care while Henry was a resident.  A Celebration of Henry’s Life will be held at a later date.   Donations may be made to:

A private graveside service will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. MA
