Leonard W. Marquardt of Abington, July 27, 2020, age 86, retired Boston Police Sergeant Detective, Loving husband of Dorothy (Foley) of Abington; Loving father of Eileen M. Corlito and husband Paul, Cathleen M. O’Brien and husband Daniel, Stephen P. (APD), Kevin R. and wife Anne, Michael T.(District Fire Warden), Laurie A., Jane V. Spellane and husband Michael, and John P. (HPD) and wife Cara; Loving brother of Veronica Cross, and the late Gerald, George, Richard, and Ramon; Beloved son of the late Augustus and Veronica Marquardt; Also, survived by 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Marquardt was an Army Korean War veteran, receiving the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He coached Abington Midget Football for many years and he was a long time member of St. Bridget Church.

Leonard Marquardt was a highly decorated and respected Boston Police Sergeant Detective. He was appointed to the department as a Patrolman on July 10, 1957 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May 20, 1968. He served in District 9, Bureau of Field Operations, District 4, District 13, and District E.

Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Thursday July 30 from 4 to 8pm. A funeral mass will be held Friday at 9am in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Please go directly to church (currently at a 50 person capacity). Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland.  In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Leonard Marquardt to: St. Bridget School or St. Vincent De Paul Society both at 455 Plymouth Street, Abington, MA 02351 or Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association at bppa.org
