Michelle Bikowski Obituary

 

Michelle Ellen (McCarten) Bikowski, at the age of 75 passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021 at the Colony House Nursing Home in Abington. Michelle was born on November 8 , 1946 in Boston MA. Michelle was predeceased by her parents Edward J. McCarten and Arylene (O’neil) McCarten, as well as her older sister Maureen (McCarten) Mcdonough. Michelle bravely battled multiple sclerosis and overtime suffered from dementia and Alzheimers.

She is survived by her dear husband Joseph John Bikowski. She was the loving mother to Margaret ( Bikowski) Holmes of Quincy, MA, Timothy Bryan Bikowski of Abington, and Bridget Eileen (Bikowski) O’Hare of Abington. She also leaves behind her youngest sister Donna (McCarten) White.

Michelle was also survived by her grandchildren Matthew Nicholas Bikowski – Warner of Avon, Evelyn Michelle O’Hare and Victoria Eileen O’Hare of Abington. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and all of their children, who she adored very much.

Michelle graduated from Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School in South Boston. After high school Michelle joined the US Navy and served as a Court Recorder for the Naval War College.

Later in life she attended Laboure College of Healthcare for Nursing in Milton, and Boston College in Newton where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Michelle worked as a nurse at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital for 30 years specializing in oncology, sleep research as well as multiple sclerosis. Michelle was also the Director of Nursing for Cranberry Specialty Hospital in Middleboro, Colony House in Abington and Coyne Health care center in Rockland.

On her spare time, Michelle was an avid reader and also loved to travel around the world.  

 

Her laughter was infectious and she had a beautiful smile. She lit up the room.

 

She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington on Friday December 3 from 5 to 8pm. Funeral Mass Saturday 10:30am at St. Bridget Church, Abington.
