Therese Margaret Brennion Lyons, 89 years young, formerly of Kingston, MA, but most recently Island Terrace Nursing Home in Lakeville, passed February 9, 2015. She was born and raised in South Boston with her late sister, Agnes, and late brother, Henry “Dutch” Brennion. She graduated from South Boston High School in 1942, then went onto the U.S. Corps of Nursing at Boston City Hospital in 1943. She left BCH in 1944 to care for her ailing mother. She was Red Cross certified and served at BCH and NE Medical Center as a volunteer for nursing services. She also joined the Mass Women’s Defense Corps and served at West Roxbury Veterans Hospital and canteen on Boston Common for service men. She then worked for the Atlantic Monthly magazine for quite some time. She was employed for 31 years at Talbots in Hingham until her retirement in August of 1998. In 1958 she married Herbert Paul Lyons and had three children. She was predeceased by her husband and two sons, Timothy Lyons and Peter Lyons. She is survived by her daughter Paula Giannini and Paula’s husband Alfred Giannini, Sr., whom she referred to as her Angel. She is also survived by Timothy’s children, Sara Jo, Christopher, and Joseph Lyons and their spouses; Paula’s sons, Adam and Nicholas Lyons; a stepson, Kevin Lyons from Florida; and Alfred’s children Alfred Jr., Tara and Marcie Giannini of MA. Through them, she leaves a legacy of 16 grand and great grandchildren. She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as her sister-in-law Jen Brennion of Longview, TX. She was an avid painter and received many awards for her artwork along with her dear friend Laurel Culley of Kingston. She also wrote poetry and received an award for her poem “The Challenge.” She was also an avid Bingo player. A funeral service will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Saturday February 14 at 11am. Visitation Friday 4 to 8pm. Interment will take place at a later date in Knollwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association or Compassionate Care Hospice.
