Ivan B. McDonald of Whitman, formerly of Quincy and South Boston, passed into eternal life  peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 24  at the age of 88.

Ivan was born in New Glascow Canada.  He graduated from South Boston High School.  He was a World War II Veteran of the Army.  Ivan worked for Walter Baker and the MBTA as a driver.  He retired in 1985 from New England Tel & Tel.

Ivan and his wife loved to travel over the years to New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Florida, Las Vegas , Graceland, California and Aruba.  A special dream of Ivan's was fulfilled with a surprise trip to Paris.  

He was an avid reader and loved his crossword puzzles until he became legally blind.  

Ivan is survived by his loving wife, Charlene of Whitman, father of Nancy Adinolfi of Plymouth, Kenneth McDonald of Danvers, Dennis "Bob" McDonald and wife Maureen of Rockland, Brian McDonald of Quincy, Richard McDonald of Randolph, LInda Pike and husband John of Quincy, Tammy McKenna and husband Ed of East Bridgewater and the late Martin "Marty" McDonald.  Stepfather to Colleen Whalen and Kenneth Wentworth, both of Whitman.  Ivan had 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Ivan was preceded in death by his three younger brothers.

Funeral from the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Friday April 29 at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, S. Weymouth 10am. Visitation Thursday 4 to 8pm. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Ivan's memory to the Saint Boniface Haiti Foundation, 400 North Main Street, Randolph, MA  02368.
