I just came across Bud's obituary today. I had to leave a message.
Bud and Norma were close friends of my mom and dad's, Joan and John Devlin, and our next door neighbor for many years.
He seemed to me to be a gentle and sweet man with a great sense of humor. He would have my dad laughing all the time. My Dad shared a love for horse racing as well.
My sympathies to his family.

Diane

Dear Uncle Bud. I loved you always for your fun candid spirit. You never let anything bother you. Like papa saying you spent too much time with those damn racehorses. I know for sure you would not change that for a second. I know you have graciously accepted the calling of God and you are at peace now.

Define "uncle"? Someone who could make you laugh until your stomach hurt, who would push you on a swing, let you sit on his lap and steer his tractor, taught you to laugh at yourself and the world around you, and always made my heart warm and my day better just by a phone call. I will miss you Uncle Bud. Thanks for making me a better person.
Love, Susie

Bye Uncle Bud. Every minute spent with you was a joyride on the dry wit express. You were brave and determined and taught me so much by your recent situation. You'll enjoy knowing that Mary-Elinor has been acting up in Easton over the past three weeks or so---I'm glad to hear she was waiting for you at the door. God-Speed, Uncle Bud.
