I offer my condolences to family and friends of Missy. Isaiah 25:8 promises that God will swallow up death forever and wipe the tears from the faces of those who mourn. we look forward to the fulfillment of this promise. Until then, may the peace from God help ease your pain. (2 Corinthians 1:2.)

Melissa what a special and beautiful woman who touched my heart from the first day that I ever met you.
I only hope that now that you finally have some peace but I know that the people around you I'm not going to be having peace right as this is such a huge loss I feel like I have such a hole in my heart right now so I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family and also to a special lady in Melissa's life and that would be Kathy. 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈💄💄

I met Melissa when we were around 11 or 12 years old. We were campers, CITs, and staff members together at Barton. Most importantly, we were friends. When I think about Melissa, I have so many wonderful memories - campfires, James Taylor, basketball, the Boathouse, an undying love for camp, the list goes on and on . As I sit here remembering Melissa, just like she did in person, her memory brings a smile to my face.

Even though many years have passed since our days at camp, Barton girls have a special bond that time does not diminish. I can remember many campfires singing along to "You've Got a Friend." The lyrics describe that bond.

Close your eyes and think of me,
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night.

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

Thank you Melissa for your kindness and friendship, and all of the memories, laughter, and smiles that we shared. Thank you for being the kind of person Carol King might have written those lyrics for.

Melissa, You fought the good fight my friend...Now it is time to finally get some peace and be with your mom, dad and nana. It has been an honor and a privilege to have known you. Soooo many memories...Especially of all the shows we got to see together. The awesome times we had...Even when we got stuck in a traffic jam in town, figured out we were going the wrong way on 93, or driving by the damn hotel 3 times in DC...
I will never be able to listen to Rush, U2 or Melissa Etheridge without thinking of you. You were always fearless and lived life to it's fullest.
Thank you for letting me into your life "little one"...There will always be a special place in my heart for you and the hole that is left will never go away...
I know I will meet up with you again someday on the other side... save me a seat, my little rock n roll friend, for we have way more gigs to go to... much love...

When we are young
Wandering the face of the earth
Wondering what our dreams might be worth
Learning that we're only immortal -
For a limited time...
Dreamline - RUSH

So many Barton Girls have left this earth far too young...we grew up with the motto:
Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever. Each of us at Clara Barton learned life's lessons early and shared life's blessings with each other. There is a beautiful "Sisterhood" awaiting you Missy. Knowing you will be surrounded by love, laughter and peace is comforting. Prayers to Missy's sisters and extended family that she remain that beautiful, spirited, and kind person in your hearts.

Dear Missy: You were not only a great Niece but a wonderful friend to me especially after Rick died. I remember the freezing cold morning you came to Braintree with your jumper cables to start my old car. AAA finally showed up and by evening that old car had a new battery. Also the evening you were waiting for me at the Amtrak station in Westwood and we went out for a great dinner. You were good to everyone and found the time just to be there. I love you and will miss you but am so glad your suffering is finally over and you are where you wanted to be all this time when you knew you were not going to get better. Keep a light on for me and when the time comes I will see you all again. Love Kathleen.
